Indications

These are rare, but serious autoimmune skin diseases. Bullous Pemphigoid (70% antibody positive, correlates with disease activity) - tense blisters, mucosa rarely involved. Pemphigus Vulgaris (90% antibody positive, no disease correlation) - flaccid blisters, mucosa often involved. Immunofluorescence of a skin biopsy should also be performed as both assays can give false negative results
