Lab team embracing Halloween in aid of Norfolk Blood Bikes

One of our laboratory teams, based at the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital as part of the EPA (Eastern Pathology Alliance), that provides tests for our Biochemistry, Blood Transfusion, Haematology, Andrology and Microbiology services, dressed up for Halloween in aid of Norfolk Blood Bikes. The staff donated £65 to help the courier service continue to provide their vital, free out-of-hours service for local NHS hospitals. The service delivers urgent blood, blood products, samples and medical supplies when they are needed most.
We want your thoughts!
We have developed ongoing user and patient surveys to enable us to continue making improvements to our service. The user survey can be completed by healthcare professionals, and services that request tests and rely on the results; this can include:
We would really appreciate your feedback.

We would appreciate your feedback if you were a patient that has received care at NNUH, JPUH, QEH which involved laboratory testing.

The laboratory at NNUH has been working towards being part of a nationwide initiative to help children and their parents/ guardians understand what happens when they have a blood test. Children undergoing treatment can meet Biomedical Scientists, see the lab equipment, ask questions and be a scientist for the day! The children will wear a special Harvey’s gang lab coat for the day and receive a goody bag at the end.
The aim of the initiative is to help reduce the fear over blood tests and to help them cope with their diagnosis and treatment, so they feel more confident and in control.

Harvey’s lab tour (formally Harvey’s gang) was first set up to honour Harvey in 2018 by Malcom Robinson after a tour he gave for a boy named Harvey, who unfortunately was terminally ill with leukaemia.
After realising the impact, he wanted to expand the idea of offering lab tours to children undergoing medical treatments, so set up Harvey’s Gang as a charity. In 2023 the Institute of Biomedical Science (IBMS) took over the management and many hospitals across the country are now part of this initiative.

Amelie visited the lab on 18th November 2025.
Thank you for supporting Eastern Pathology Alliance with correct labelling requirements.
Incorrect labelling introduces risk of relabelling errors, delays patient results and increases workload of the laboratory.
Please share this with your staff, as this is crucial for patient safety and timely results
